Zellia Bacon, 98, passed away November 6, 2019. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 16, 2019, starting at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 10:00am until time of the service at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 5325 E. 30th street, Indianapolis, 46218
Mother Zellia B. Bacon, the daughter of William M. Bacon and Mackey Thomas was born December 4, 1920 in Trigg County, Kentucky. In 1940 Zellia along with Douglas Bacon(husband) and son Ben Bacon moved to Indianapolis, to pursue a a new adventure. Mother Bacon was baptized in Jesus Name at an early age in Kentucky. She was a active member at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. Making her the oldest living member of the church. She served as the President of the Senior Choir and was a member of The Mother’s Board.
In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, attending church, and she really enjoyed fishing, ooooh and let’s not forget the Gift of Mothering.. i.e. the kids next door, the kids down the street, your friends/friend. It was in her nature to be LOVING Mother Zellia Bacon ( was known to many as Mama Bacon ) departed this life on Wednesday November 6, 2019 at an YOUNG age of Ninety-Eight (98) years, eleven months, and 6 days. She was preceded in Death by William and Mackey(parents), Douglas Bacon(husband), Pearl and Shelia (children), Michael White(grandson), and sisters and brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory her wonderful and loving children Ben Bacon(Diana), Barbara(Bobbie) Carter, Wardene(Wanda) Muff(Michael), Karen Graves(Eugene), and Donna Bacon. Her beautiful and adorable Grandchildren Melanie Graves(Richard), Dr. Myla White-Green(Chris) Arron,Ohio, Ben Bacon Jr, DeLenn Bacon(Kelly), Rico Bacon(Michelle),Marcus D. Muff, Michael R. Muff, Brandi Halbert(Anthony), Casey Taylor, Cameron Bradley and Cierra Hazelett(Edward). Twenty seven (27) Great Grandkids, Five (5) Great-Great Grandkids, one Sister (Mildred Johnson Rockchester,PA), one brother (Harrison Bacon, Beaver Falll, PA) nieces ,nephews, and a Host of relatives, friends, and church members.
