Carla Perinne Perry, age 51 of Indianapolis passed away August 7, 2017. She was born in Syracuse, New York to Alonza Perry Jr. and Viola Perry. The family moved to Indianapolis when she was a baby. When Carla was growing up she participated in Girl Scouts and graduated from North Central High School in 1983. She continued her education at Indiana State University studying Social Work and eventually graduating from The University of Cincinnati with a degree in Communications. Later in her life she enrolled in Ivy Tech to work on a Paralegal degree. Perinne was an avid student at Ivy Tech Community College. She was a student leader and positive role Model. Perinne served as the Communications Director and Vice President of the Student Government Association. She was a member of student organizations Phenomenal Woman and Polished Bricks. In addition, Perinne was a graduate of Project Grow Mastermind through the Pass the Torch Foundation, and a graduate of the Student Leadership Academy. Perrine was often seen on campus encouraging other students. She was passionate about giving back to the community and frequently participated in community service projects such as the Habit for Humanity panel build. Perinne was the epitome of positivity and perseverance. She led by example and did it with a beautiful smile.
Carla had a giving and generous personality, which lead her to become a member of the NAACP working with prison reform. She also worked in the St. Vincent Stress Center. Carla was extremely family oriented, helpful and compassionate. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her son, Charles Crabtree (Johnise Thompson-Crabtree), grandson, Carlito Crabtree; sister, Carmen Perry; brother, Carleton Perry (India Perry)Also give a special thanks to the whole ivy tech students and staff.
Carla Perry passed away August 7, 2017. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 12 at the Augusta Christian Church, 3445 W. 71st street, Indianapolis, starting at 12:00 noon with a visitation starting at 11:00am. Burial will be at Southerland Cemetery.
