Debra “Debbie” (Patterson) Barnes, age 60 of Plainfield, passed away March 17th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her best friend and mother, Ginny Patterson. She is survived by her loving husband, Albert “Bud” Barnes; two adoring children, LeAnna Barnes and Wade (Sarah) Barnes; and her brother, Chuck (Teresa) Patterson. Debbie was a mom and wife first and foremost in her life. Some of Debbie’s most cherished moments were allowing her children to spend a school day at home with her just taking in their laughter and silliness. When she wasn’t busy enjoying all the little things about family life, she loved annual trips to The Indiana State Fair, riding horses, and soaking up the sun. Growing up, Debbie cherished very close relationships with her Aunt Sissy, her grandfather, Bill, and her bonus mom, June that helped mold her into the wonderful and caring person she was. Debbie gleaned from these relationships what being a true friend meant and in turn acquired friends from all walks of life. She grew and maintained those friendships in exciting ways, like convincing all her closest buddies into becoming bus drivers with her. Debbie loved driving the school bus for Plainfield Community School Corporation and acquired many dear friends during those years too. Debbie had a real zest for life and had a fighting spirit up to her last days. She passed peacefully in her home with her family close to her just like she wanted. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 11th, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM at The Amo Community Building in Amo, IN. Debbie loved flowers and anything green, but her true passion is the comfort and safety of animals. In lieu of gifting flowers to the family, she would much prefer for you to plant some flowers in remembrance of her and requests donations to the ASPCA.
