Nashville’s endearing street singer John Franz died December 23, 2020. John was born in Wichita, Kansas, graduating from Scottsburg High School in 1959. He attended I.U. two years and was a member of the Singing Hoosiers, then served four years in the Air Force. He was the son of Rev. Pete and Martha Franz. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Sherman Franz of Columbus, IN and his ex-wife and best friend Carol Franz. His oldest brother Loren Franz of Henryville passed as did his daughter Kate Franz of Indianapolis. John’s musical life spanned 52 years. Professional start was in Indianapolis and settled in Nashville in 1989. With guitar in hand, he sang 20 years on the Artist Colony Corner. A musical memorial will be announced at a later time.
