Mamie M. Kelly, age 83, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on December 17, 1942. Mamie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Helen and Orange Tunstall; and her siblings: sister- Lilly Mae Bronson, and brothers-Orange Jr., Jean, Gus, Amos, Albert, John Henry, Percy, Ernest Lee. She leaves to cherish her loving memory of her devoted children: Patricia Tunstall- Dodd, Allie Kelly- Ivory (Rick), and Warren Kelly (Shannon); her only living sibling, her sister, Josphine Guy; nine grandchildren: Nakita, Melody, Rodriquez (Tony), Patrick, Charles (C.J.) She worked for Central State Hospital until its closing and later continued her career at LaRue Carter, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring. In her retirement, Mamie lovingly cared for her great-grandson when her granddaughter needed help finding a sitter. After babysitting, she went on to work part-time at Kmart. Mamie was kind-hearted and always looked out for others. She had a gentle and loving spirit, yet she was honest and never afraid to speak her mind. It took a lot to make her angry, but when she did get upset, you knew it—because she kept it real. Still, her heart was rooted in love, and her spirit was one of compassion and strength. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and found her greatest happiness in being their “Big Granny.” Her legacy of love, laughter, wisdom, and family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
