Lawson, Patricia obit pic 001Patricia Anne Gale Lawson, 90, died peacefully on September 11, 2017.  Pat loved her family and loved life, and she was very much loved in return.  Pat was born June 11, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to LeRoy and Gladys (Lawless) Gale.  Her family moved to Indianapolis in 1929 when her father became an automobile salesman and eventually an automobile dealer.  Pat married James P. Lawson on August 7, 1948 and they were genuinely in love and happily married for nearly 61 years before Jim’s death in 2009.  Together they had 7 children: Cindi Townsend Sinclair (deceased), Steve, Jeff (Tracy), John (Tina), Jim, Michael (Lynn), and Marianne Lawson Vogt.  Pat had 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 1 more on the way.  After graduating from Shortridge High School in 1945 Pat enrolled at Butler University where she sang in the Butler Jordan Philharmonic Choir.  It was while attending Butler that she met her future husband Jim.  Pat owned Antoinette’s Bridals Inc. for 15 years, retiring in 1985.  She was not content being retired so she went back to work as a fur consultant for Elan Furs retiring once again in 2003.  Pat enjoyed many activities as a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish (IHM) for over 20 years.  She sang in the choir, directed CYO plays and coached cadet volleyball and kickball for which she received the Monsignor Busald Award for sustained service to the youth of IHM.  Patricia was a lifelong member of the Riviera Club where she served on both the Board of Managers and the Board of Directors and served as a President of the Riviera Booster Club.  She also served over 10 years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels delivering both food and friendship to Indianapolis residents who were in need.  In addition, Pat volunteered as an Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Symphoguide tour representative for foreign guests visiting Indianapolis In the 1970’s and 80’s.  Her indefatigable volunteerism earned her a key to the city from then Indianapolis mayor William H. Hudnut.  Pat enjoyed all sports and absolutely loved watching her beloved Indianapolis Colts, and the Indiana Pacers.  She was the unofficial mascot of these teams at her retirement home leading cheers before games.  Pat especially enjoyed playing golf and swimming as well as acting in a number of theater groups.  She performed in shows at the Athenaeum, Marott Hotel Dinner theatre, Avondale Playhouse, and Carmel Old Schoolhouse Players.  Pat had been an active member of Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church for over 20 years.  She sang in the parish choir, participated in the parish amateur theatre group, and sang in the Indy Aires music group.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society known as the Indy Divas!  Pat and her family want to extend a very heartfelt and special thank you to Northridge Gracious Living in Fishers.  The staff and many friends at Northridge provided endless joy and happiness enriching Pat’s life over the past several years.   Pat also specifically wished to thank Charles Hasbrook, MD and his staff for their compassionate and competent medical care.  Donations can be made in Patricia’s memory to Cristo Rey High School or the Wounded Warriors Project.  A Visitation will be at Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic church, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN, 46037 on Thursday, September 14, from 3:00pm to 8:00 pm.  A Catholic Mass of Resurrection will be at 11:00am on Friday, September 15.  Arrangements entrusted to Albertson’s Mortuary, Sherman Chapel, Indianapolis www.albertsonsmortuary.com
