Phyllis Jean Roberts passed away peacefully on March 6, 2017.  She was a resident of American Village, an American Senior Community.

Phyllis was born on Dec. 20, 1927.  Her parents were Floyd and Alberta Conaway who predeceased her.  She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.  She married David Roberts on Jan. 31, 1947.  They had two children, Glenn and Debbie.  David predeceased her in February of 1971.  She moved to Phoenix Arizona a few year after his death.  She remained there until her retirement in 1992 and then moved back to Indianapolis to be closer to her family and friends.

Phyllis was a very independent woman.  She was quiet by nature and was very determined to do things “her way”.  She lived independently until the fall of 2015 and then moved to assisted living at American Village.  Her physical health slowly declined but she was mentally sharp until the last few days of her life.  She loved the Chicago Cubs, bulldogs, ping pong, crossword puzzles, playing euchre, poker, gin rummy, and watching all kinds of sporting events.

She leaves behind her son, Glenn Roberts (Paula) and her daughter Debbie Broderick (Roger).  She has 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Abby), Sarah, and Natalie Broderick. She also leaves behind her grandson, Colt (Lydia) Roberts and their children Titus, Calista, Bryce, and Skyler.

Her family would like to thank the amazing staff at American Village, especially Beatrice, Lewis, Mariah, Sue, and Stacy.  Her peaceful passing would not have been possible without them. Phyllis’s family would also like to thank the wonderful people at Heartland Hospice.  They were able to help the family with loving care through a very painful process.  Please consider donating to their memorial fund at https://heartlandhospicefund.org.   Please make your donation in memory of Phyllis Roberts.
