A Funeral Service for Robert Lee Whittaker will be Thursday, March 19, 2026, starting at 1:00 pm with a visitation from 11:00 am until time of the service. Due to Albertsons Mortuary still in the process of renovation, the funeral service will be held at Oakley Hammond Funeral Home, 5342 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, 46219.

Robert Lee Whittaker was better known by his D.C. family and friends as Lil Bit.  He was better known to his Indy Family and friends as D.C. and fondly known as “Popcorn” as he had the special recipe. Robert was affectionately known by his loving wife as Sugar biscuit. Robert was the oldest child born on July 28, 1965, in Washington D.C to Pearl Fowlkes (James Fowlkes preceded in death).

Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 13 years, Monica D. Whittaker; daughter, Olivia Grace Whittaker; brother, Timothy Smalls (Sonya Marchi); sister, Shirely Smalls; mother-in-law, Virginia Bush, as Robert referred to her as “Ole Lady”; brothers-in-law, Lance Mitchell(Melva), Kenny Woodson (Aurora), and James Woodson (Toya); his loving fur baby, Ziggi; a host of aunties, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and childhood best friend, Eric Muhammad.  He was preceded in death by father, James Fowlkes, sister, Mary Ann Smalls and brother-in-law, Randy Mitchell.

Robert was baptized at Light of the World where he volunteered his services, driving members to and from church.  He also volunteered cooking and feeding hungry little mouths. Robert was known to give and help whenever or wherever he was needed.  He was a natural Happy Man. Robert was a great provider, a great friend and a great supporter. He loved the outdoors and concerts in the park.   He enjoyed grilling for family and friends.  He loved people, Robert had a heart of Gold.

Robert will be dearly and truly missed.
