Mr. Willie Lee Williams was born on July 28th, 1928 to the late Marie Murray and the late Luther B. Williams in Belzoni, Mississippi. Willie was the youngest of his mother’s children. He received his formal education in the Belzoni Public School District.
A young, hard-working Willie worked many jobs in the fields and farms of Belzoni and driving tractors. After leaving Mississippi and relocating to Gary, Indiana in 1973, Willie took on a new occupation and skill in maintenance. He labored tirelessly for Ellen B. Residential for over 30 years.
Willie was joined into marriage with his loving wife, Odessa Williams on August 21st, 1979, in Memphis, TN. Willie and Odessa embraced and loved a blended family of 20 children.
Willie found great comfort in spending time with his family, fishing, and traveling all over. He had a kind, caring, and loving personality which enlarged his circle of friends over the years both near and far.
Willie accepted Christ into his life at a young age. He held a close and personal relationship with the Lord and his spiritual journey led him to recommit his faith, prior to his final days.
Willie passed into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, October 25th, 2015. He was preceded in death by both parents; his sister, Ella B. Abraham; and two sons, Tony and Tommy.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Odessa Williams; his sons: Willie James, S.L., W.C.
