Robert “Bob” Dorman died peacefully in Donna’s arms at his home, after 70 years on the planet, June 19, 2022. He was born and raised in Noblesville, Indiana but called the north side of Indianapolis home for the last half century. He graduated from Noblesville HS and received degrees from both Purdue and IU. He began his career as an electronics technician fixing audio components but spent most of his working years as a financial advisor and insurance broker. He was many things, an avid golfer, audiophile, swimmer, traveler, swimming teacher, and dedicated Mexico snowbird, but most of all he was loving and devoted husband to Donna and friend, mentor, and life-guide to many. Bob spent his childhood summers at his parents’ cottage in northern Michigan (shrimp at the Argon, chicken at Dam Site) and the last 30+ winters in Mexico, most recently in a palapa he and Donna purchased in Paamul. The middle son of the late Eleanor and Simon Dorman and older brother to the late Duane, he is survived by his wife Donna, older brother Peter, foreign exchange daughter Kerstin Rieder-Skornia, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is fiercely remembered by many friends, colleagues, neighbors, classmates, and program participants. He was gregarious, outspoken, sometimes headstrong, funny, a great bestower of nicknames, handy around the house and yard, keen for a deal, cat lover, and Colt’s football fan.
A celebration of his life will be July 16 at White River Yacht club, greeting from 2p to 4p, Celebration of Life Service at 4:30p. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Indiana Donor Network Foundation. Be an organ donor!
