Carlton Edgar Jenkins, Sr. Born October 8, 1958, Carlton took his last breath on February 8, 2022, at 8:09 PM, at the age of 63. He was born in Cleveland, OH, but resided most of his life in Indianapolis, IN. He is preceded in death by his mother Caroline, father Eugene Sr., son Carlton Jr., brother Eugene Jr. (Butch), and godson De’Karlus. He is survived by his wife Theresa; children Norie, Lori, Corey, and Tory; and grandchildren Raini and Stormy. His eldest children Carolyn Cherelle Jenkins, Laquita Jenkins, and Cherlle Lancaster and grandchildren Cameron, Cam’Layia, Bralynn, Christopher, Christina, Chrishell, and Geneva also remember him fondly, along with his brothers Mike and Paul Jenkins and sisters Neicy, Vickie, and Pamela (what are their last names?). His nieces and nephews also survive him: Eugene III, Brandon, Tony, Patrick, Matthew, David, Damon, Ricky, Tasha, Marika, Leah, Shelly, Crystal, Dawn, Ashley, Melody, Missy, and Shelby. He also had many great nieces and nephews as well as godchildren, Bryan, Brandon, and Donika. He had six sisters in law and two brothers in law, whom he loved dearly. Carlton was a man of entertainment, a known fan of the Pacers and the Colts. He could frequently be seen wearing blue and gold for the Pacers, blue and white for the Colts, or red and white for Indiana University. Carlton behaved as if he were in the stands, even if he was watching on television. Carlton enjoyed ’70s and ’80s music from genres such as funk, classic rock, hip hop, and even a few hits from today. Some of his favorite artists were Michael Jackson, Funkadelic, the Commodores, the Temptations, the Spinners, KC and the Sunshine Band, OutKast, and Dr. Dre. He enjoyed television and film of all genres but especially action and science fiction, such as Star Trek, Back to the Future, Godzilla, King Kong, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avatar was one of his favorites. He also enjoyed daytime shows such as Gomer Pyle, Good Times, Bewitched, Steve Harvey, and Martin. Carlton also served many years in downtown Indianapolis as a chef in several restaurants. He preferred to stand or walk anywhere he could, and he was a provider, who was not one to ask for help. He did not hesitate to give what he could to meet the needs of others. Carlton gave us many great laughs, joyous times, and wonderful memories by which to remember him. Carlton’s love was as true as his heart. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who paid close attention to his entire family and all of his loved ones; he loved each of us.
