Nos duele compartir el fallecimiento de nuestra querida madre, María Estebana Asencio Palaez de Bedoya, nacida el 29 de noviembre de 1954 en Salamá, Baja Verapaz, Guatemala. Nuestra madre fue una mujer fuerte, tenaz e increíblemente trabajadora que dedicó toda su vida a su familia. Como madre soltera, crió sola a sus 10 hijos, haciendo innumerables sacrificios para asegurar que recibieran cuidados, alimento y amor. Con fuerza, resiliencia y fe, construyó una familia arraigada en la unidad y la perseverancia. Crió y sobrevivió a 10 hijos: Saúl (Amarilis), Rubelina (Julio), Jeremías (Norma), Rubén (Anna), Angélica, Guadalupe, Manuel (María), Ingris, Rocelia y Mayra (Alex). Su amor se multiplicó a través de las generaciones, deja 56 nietos y 33 bisnietos que siempre llevarán su recuerdo en sus corazones. Vivió una vida humilde y hermosa en su pequeño pueblo de Palestina, Guatemala, donde encontraba alegría en las cosas sencillas pero significativas. Amaba el café, cocinar —especialmente sus famosos tamales—, las reuniones familiares llenas de risas, criar gallinas, cuidar de su querida gata La Micha y disfrutar de la naturaleza y el aire libre. Su casa siempre estaba abierta y su cocina siempre cálida. En 2025, tuvo la suerte de viajar a Estados Unidos por primera vez con una visa. Aquí vivió su primera Navidad, vio la nieve por primera vez y sintió el frío del invierno: momentos que le brindaron mucha felicidad y asombro. Esos recuerdos son algo que nuestra familia atesorará para siempre.
We are saddened to share the passing of our beloved mother, María Estebana Asencio Palaez de Bedoya, born on November 29, 1954, in Salamá, Baja Verapaz, Guatemala. Our mother was a strong, tenacious, and incredibly hardworking woman who dedicated her entire life to her family. As a single mother, she raised her 10 children on her own, making countless sacrifices to ensure they received care, food, and love. With strength, resilience, and faith, she built a family rooted in unity and perseverance. She raised and survived 10 children: Saúl (Amarilis), Rubelina (Julio), Jeremías (Norma), Rubén (Anna), Angélica, Guadalupe, Manuel (María), Ingris, Rocelia, and Mayra (Alex). Her love multiplied through generations, leaving 56 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren who will always carry her remembrance in their hearts. He lived a humble and beautiful life in his small town of Palestina, Guatemala, where he found joy in simple but meaningful things. He loved coffee, cooking—especially his famous tamales—family gatherings full of laughter, raising chickens, taking care of his beloved cat La Micha, and enjoying nature and the outdoors. His house was always open, and his kitchen always warm. In 2025, he was lucky enough to travel to the United States for the first time with a visa. There, he experienced his first Christmas, saw snow for the first time, and felt the winter cold: moments that brought him much happiness and wonder. Those memories are something our family will treasure forever.
