Modris Hermanis Lakstins, 87, Indianapolis, passed away on August 17, 2023. Born on April 29, 1936 in Plavinas, Latvia to the late Janis and Emilija Lakstins, he was a graduate of Shortridge High School.
Modris was a loyal and loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a giving heart and was admired by many. He was a carpenter of Local 60 and worked at Louis Linder and Sons for over 30 years before retiring. He was sarcastic, funny, and always cracking a joke. If he had a chance to give his last words, they would be in honor of the Terminator with “I’ll be back”.
Survivors include; children, Suzanne Halterman (Jim), Brian (Laura) Lakstins, John Lakstins, and Jennifer (Carlos) Lakstins-Alvarez; eight grandchildren, Hailey, Lucy, Katherine, Grace, Frank, Seth, Marin, Kierabella; brother, Victors Lakstins and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Sara Jean Lakstins and by an infant granddaughter, Emma.
A Celebration of Life will be shared with family and friends at a date still to be determined. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens
