July 25, 1929 – November 7, 2012

Dr. Richard D. Moore, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Greensburg, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 7th.   He was born on July 25, 1929, in Greensburg, IN, to Andrew D. Moore and Helyn I. Moore.  He is a graduate of Hanover College, Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary.  He served in the United States Air Force. Dick married Benna L. Shepherd in 1957. He then served three churches:  First Christian Church in Summitville, IN, Augusta Christian Church in Indianapolis, IN, and Covenant Federated Church in Kentland, IN. After retirement, he served as an interim minister at Summitville, Auburn, Connersville and New Salem.  He was a State Police Chaplin for thirty-four years. He is survived by his wife, Benna; his sister, Catherine Joy Moore; his daughter, Kathy Coats and son-in-law Ted Coats; his son, Rick Moore; and his grandchildren, Nicole L. (Moore) and Mike Olenik, Lindsey I. Moore, Kathryn Joy Moore, Elizabeth C. Coats, Chassity (Selby) and Justin Howard and Melissa Selby.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry; and granddaughter, Emily Marie Coats.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11th from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Family Life Center at First Christian Church on 425 N. Broadway, Greensburg, IN, 47240.  The funeral service is on Monday, November 12th at 11:00 am at First Christian Church.  Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery on Tuesday November 13th at 11:00 am.
