A Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Universal Church of Truth, 1927 E. 32nd street, Indianapolis, IN 46218 starting at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 10:00am until time of service.

 

Life Reflections

James Henry Lewis Sr. was born July 10, 1964 to  Wilma Braxton and the late Richard Woodson in Indianapolis, Indiana.  His education began at school #44 and graduated from Cripus Attucks High School.   James had a gift of working with his hands.

James was an expert at Mechanic and Electrical work,  he used his talents working maintenance for nursing homes and apartments.  He worked with several contractors remodeling homes.   James enjoyed fishing, baseball, playing cards and traveling.  He found the game of chess to be his favorite due to its strategic nature of the game.  In his free time he loved having cooking and having family gatherings, his biggest love was his children and special love for all children.

James made his confession for Christ and was baptized in 1998 at the Powerhouse Church of Indianapolis.  He eventually joined Living Water Fellowship Church.

James is survived by his mother, Wilma Braxton children, Gwendolyn Lewis (Fredrick), James Lewis Jr., Janet Lewis, Stacey Lewis Miller (Corey), Tracey Richardson (Damion), Donshai Hutchinson; siblings, Sharon Odom, Tyrone Payton, Tracy Lewis, Richard Woodson, Sheilah Woodson, Ronald Woodson, Gwendolyn Woodson, Reginald Woodson, Rodney Woodson, R. Philip (Salena) Woodson, James Modlin, Stachia Modlin; grandfather, Bishop Nealon Guthrie.

James was preceded in death by his father, brother, Robert Woodson, grandparents, Emma and Willie Lewis.

James raised not only his own children he raised a host of children including, Latisha Bridgewater (Duluth, GA), Stanley Bridgewater, goddaughter, Nidjah Fletcher (Chicago, IL), Malshavia Campbell, To’Niyah Langston, Ja’Marion Langston and godson, Joseph Hogan.
