Nushardt picJanet Nushardt, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022. She was born January 17, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to her parents, the late Harry Edstrom and Virginia (Carmody) Edstrom. She lived in Chicago for 30 years, and then moved to Ohio for a few years. She later moved to Indianapolis in 1986. Janet is survived by her daughter, Allison (Irvin) Jaramillo of Camby; her son, Patrick (Lindsay) Nushardt of Indianapolis; Grandsons, Gabriel and Damian Jaramillo; her siblings: James Edstrom, Debbie Edstrom, Diane (Dale) Young, Judith (Scott) Stone, Margaret Martin, Michael Healy, Kevin (Nancye) Healy, Dennis (Donna) Healy, and Tim (Debbie) Healy; her step-mother Teresa (Healy) Edstrom; and many nieces and nephews. Janet is proceeded in death by her parents and siblings, Donna (Doug) Scurry and Terry (Bridget) Healy. Janet gave selflessly to support her children and grandchildren including making countless batches of her famous pancakes on Sundays. She rarely, if ever, missed attending any of her children’s after school activities and even led her daughter’s girl scout troop.

After surviving prior diagnoses of cancer, Janet finally lost her battle with the disease. To honor her final wishes, there will be no services at this time. Per her request, Janet’s cancer tissue was donated to her doctor’s study to find a cure for small cell lung cancer.
