A funeral Service for Jesse Rogers, Jr., will be Friday, January 6, 2023, Jerusalem Temple Apostolic Church, 2125 E. 54th street, Indianapolis, IN, 46220, starting at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 10:00 am until time of the service.

Jesse James Rogers, Jr. was born May 3, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jesse James Rogers, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Ramey Rogers.  He was the fourth of eight children of this union. Jesse graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. At 15 years of age, Jesse was at his father’s side as gun violence took his father’s life. This traumatizing event was the incentive for his desire to be saved in Jesus name.  He served at Believers In Christ with Elder Manson Clark and subsequently, was baptized and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost under the late Pastor Jenny Forster.

Before joining the Marine Corps in 1971 he worked at Switzer Factory.  After the military, he was an accomplished CEMT-P at Wishard Hospital, (now Eskenazi Hospital).  Before retiring in 2004, because of his outstanding and caring ambulance commitment, Wishard administrators honored Jesse as an ambassador with a Forever Wall Mural.  Jesse had a true love for God’s word and could quote the Bible with clear explanation better than anyone you may know.  Jesse’s Christian education development led him to achieve professional advancement in the ministry with numerous degrees and honors including but not limited to an Honorary Doctorate by Grace Bible College. He was also ordained by Apostle Thomas Wesley Weeks Sr., and then founded Joyful Noise Ministries.

Jesse joined Jerusalem Temple Apostle Faith Assembly under the pastoral leadership and care of Bishop Derek Jefferson.  Later Bishop Jefferson elevated Jesse to the esteemed position of Overseer.  He will forever be remembered as a pillar of Jerusalem Temple and District Elder in Kenya in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc.

Jesse never met a stranger and was never at a loss for words. Everyone reading this reflection knows Jesse healed and touched many lives with his profound biblical knowledge, ability to quote scripture and gentle Christian spirit. Jesse enjoyed reading and was a true selfless ‘servant’- always assisting ANYONE in ANY WAY he could. Jesse was united in holy matrimony to his soul mate Donna Collins May 3, 2000.  He loved and cherished his dear wife Donna with all his heart. He often said to others, “Donna is my Queen.  She saved my life”.  All totaled – Donna and Jesse enjoyed forty blissful years together as Christian partners in every aspect of life.

Dr. Jesse James Rogers, Jr. departed this life on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 22 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jane Johnson and brother William Rogers. Jesse leaves to cherish his memory:  Loving and devoted wife: Donna Collins-Rogers; children, Sharon L. (Rogers) Brown, Jennifer R. Rogers, Carol Rogers, and Wayne Rogers (Jennifer C.); sisters, Carolyn Shaw and Helen Rogers; brothers, Samuel (Bettie) Rogers, John (Vanessa) Rogers, and Harold (Rita) Rogers; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, saints, godchildren and friends.
