June Ann (Kronlokken) Rude passed away on October 9, 2022, at the age of 95 while under hospice care at her daughter’s home in Indianapolis, Indiana. June is survived by her loving family, daughter Diane (Rude) Overstreet, son Brian (Cathy) Rude, six grandchildren, Derek (Cynthia), Kari, Kristen Overstreet and Lydia, William, and RJ Rude and one great-grandchild, Lucy Overstreet. June is preceded in death by her husband Ken, as well as all her siblings; brothers Morris, Charles, Loren Kronlokken, and sister Hildred (Kronlokken) Norman. June was born on June 29, 1927, to Oscar and Mary (Collin) Kronlokken in Sacred Heart, MN. June graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1945 in a class of 12 kids. As WWII was underway only the 6 girls were in attendance as the 6 boys went off to war (Ken being one of them). June attended and graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Home Economics and became a teacher at various high schools in Minnesota. After dating her high school sweetheart, Ken Rude, for 11 years, June and Ken were married on August 20, 1955. They made their first home in Eau Claire, WI where Ken was working for JI Case Company and June took a position in the test kitchen for Presto. Once Diane was born in 1959, June became a full-time mother and homemaker and continued her life-long practice of making balanced nutritious meals, sewing, and hospitality. June supported all Ken’s moves as he advanced his career within JI Case, living in Eau Claire, WI, Edina, MN, Racine, WI, Indianapolis, IN, back to Edina, MN; and the last move to West Lafayette, IN where Ken retired in 1988. June and Ken spent their retirement years developing tracts of land into residential neighborhoods and taking care of their 5 acre yard in Lafayette and then being snowbirds in Cape Canaveral, FL, enjoying views of the Banana River. June was a constant loving and supportive wife, mother, and homemaker. She adored her grandchildren and spending time with them. Generally, there was a lesson to be learned, be it making pies or researching an interesting topic. She enjoyed entertaining and participating in church, gourmet, and bridge clubs. Ken and June were charter members of Cross & Crown Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. June was a dedicated volunteer at the local nursing home and sang in the Purdue extension choir. June was slowly overtaken by dementia during her last ten plus years. Throughout this struggle, June retained her sweet disposition and continued to provide smiles to all. June was lovingly cared for by Ken until his death in March 2021, and then by Diane until June’s passing. June will be interred with Ken at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, in the near future. A casual family reunion is being planned for next spring in Minnesota to celebrate June and Ken’s lives and those of other family members lost during the pandemic
