Roger passed on peacefully to his heavenly reward July 16 surrounded by his loving family. He was 76. Tough as nails, he not only won a fierce battle with cancer, but survived two life-altering surgeries. He lived many years after to enjoy son Matt’s wedding; daughter Sarah’s graduation from law school; daughter Natalie’s new business; and the birth of grandsons Cal and Beau. “Papa Rog” adored and was proud of his family. Roger was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016. This battle was more than he could overcome. Roger was an original. To say they broke the mold after he was born, wrongly assumes a mold could ever contain him. Witty, smart, hard-working, dapper he delighted young and old with his funny jokes and colorful sayings like: “If ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ were candy and nuts, we’d all have a happy Christmas” and “I’m hell when I’m well and I’ve never been sick a day in my life.” Many are a bit too colorful to list here. Born January 31,1946 in Anderson, Indiana to Beanie and Maxine Broderick, he graduated from St. Mary’s High School, where he played baseball and basketball, and the University of Houston. Eventually establishing himself in the insurance industry, he was president of White Oak Advisors. He was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He and Debbie, his great love and devoted wife of 40 years, not only raised their beautiful family together but traveled the world. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies, beers at the Broad Ripple Tavern, a good steak and a Manhattan. In retirement, he took a keen interest in shopping, particularly lamp shopping, but also to update his dashing wardrobe. Roger is survived by Debbie; his children and grandsons; daughter-in-law Abby; sister Linda Weiland; nieces Chris (Lynnette) and Debbie Broderick and Amanda (Josh) Weiland; nephews Brad (Paige) Weiland and Colt (Lydia) Roberts; sister-in-law Julie Broderick; brother-in-law Glenn Roberts (Paula) ; and dog Ellie. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tim Broderick. Annie, his beloved Yorkie, preceded him in death as well. The family is thankful to Kiki King who cared for him with love and kindness the last weeks of his life and to Kristine Newton, the hospice nurse from Paradigm Hospice. Services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary church located at 5692 Central Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Calling will be from 9 AM to 11 AM with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. There will be a luncheon immediately following the mass at Liter House, 5301 N. Winthrop Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Roger would have loved your flowers, but instead please consider a donation to:

In the office Roger would always preface a statement by saying “In the perfect world”. A good man gone too soon. My deepest sympathy; he will be.missed.
A beautiful tribute to Roger. He was such a special guy with an incredible,
loving family. Love you Broderick’s.❤️❤️
The best obituary I have ever read. He will be missed dearly. I am sorry I can not be there to pay my respects. Sending all my love!
My deepest condolences to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Roger was a very special friend. He and I worked together in the life insurance business and it was most enjoyable and filled with fond memories. Even after his retirement he would stop by my office and chat about the “old days.” I will always cherish the wonderful memories I have while working together and enjoying life. Our thoughts and prayers will be for his lovely wife and family that he dearly loved!
Debbie and family, so sorry for your loss. Roger was a great man, friend and family supporter. His wit will be missed.
I always considered Roger a valued friend. He had a heart of gold. He was a mentor to me during my insurance career and I will forever be grateful for his friendship. Go fly high upon the mountain! Anna Rust

I’m sorry for your loss. I knew Roger only distantly but I always enjoyed seeing him at Panera at lunch time. I saw him there frequently.
All the best to you and family at this difficult time.

I got to know Roger as the provider of life insurance for some of my clients. He was an incredibly ethical businessman and an even better person. I always looked forward to meeting with him and talking with him.
So very sorry for your loss, Debbie. Praying the good Lord will wrap you in his loving arms and ease your grief.
My heart goes out to Debbie, who lavished so much care on her beloved husband.
Matt:

Debbie, Matt, Sarah, Natalie, & Linda,
So sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. He loved you all, he loved his family. Roger was a kind and gentle spirited man who always had a great smile. He fought thru some tough battles, and now he is rewarded as the scripture says “well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the Joy of thy Lord” Matt. 25:21
May you feel God’s comfort in the days ahead. I extend my sympathy to you all.
