Young sherry picSherry Lynn (Long) Young of Indianapolis passed away peacefully surrounded by her sisters on May 26, 2020.  Sherry was born on Christmas Day, 1955, and grew up in Plainfield, the oldest of 5 children born to Nip and Jerry Long.  She was a graduate of Plainfield High School, Class of 1974.  She worked in the food service industry for most of her life, and she medically retired from Waffle House on West Washington Street where she worked for several years as a manager.  Sherry had a generous spirit and was a wonderful caregiver to her friends and family.  She had a big heart and a beautiful smile and was a loving daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and friend.  She is preceded in death by her husband Nate Young and her parents Nip and Jerry Long.  Sherry is survived by her sisters Karla (Jeff) Summers, Dianah (Ken) Duh, Robin (Kurt) Steward, and her brother Bill Long, as well as several nieces and nephews.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on June 18, 2020, from 5-8 p.m. with a memorial service starting at 6:30 p.m. at Pavilion Center, Aspen Room, Washington Township Park, 115 South County Road 575, Avon, IN  46123.  Follow park signs to arrive at the Pavilion Center.  Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
