Charles Alfred Kopp, first born of Charles William Kopp and Helen Laura Schaper-Kopp of Clarksville, Indiana on April 23rd 1929. He passed away 12 February 2018.
The years of his youth were spent in, what was then, the very small town of Clarksville, Indiana where his good character was molded. He attended Jeffersonville High school. His love for old automobiles and airplanes was fueled by his early jobs at local service stations and by spending many hours at the local airport. Like his father, he became a master machinist, which eventually led to his 36 plus years of employment at Boeing Aircraft in the state of Washington. In retirement he resided in Denver, Colorado, Gallatin, Missouri, and finally, Anderson, Indiana where to keep himself busy, he drove a school bus for a number of years. He had several nick names. To his immediate family, he was Son. To his school mates he was Charley, to the grandkids, Chuckles, and to the rest he was simply, Chuck. He was a freemason, Clark Lodge of Jeffersonville, Indiana and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard L. Kopp, and grandson Scott A. Kreutz. He is survived by his wife Penny, daughter Kathie Clement, son Dan Kopp, and brother Louis E. Kopp. 9 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren on his side. He is survived on Penny’s side by step-sons Joseph, Michael, Frank, and Andrew Flanders, step-daughters Renada Hays, and Cathy Simonson along with 29 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 200 W 46th St. Anderson, Indiana. 46013 Viewing from 09:00-11:00, services from 11:00-12:00, Thursday, February 15 and interment at Marion National cemetery at 1:00pm
