Marilyn J. Watson (Nelson), 74, of McCordsville, passed away July 18, 2021
A Memorial service will be Saturday at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist Catholic Church, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN 46037, starting at 1:00pm.
Marilyn J Watson (Nelson), 74 passed away July 18, 2021. She was born in Bristol, Virginia to the late Charles and Nancy Black on May 25, 1947. She graduated with honors and was on the Dean’s list while attending Purdue University. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Services. Marilyn worked for Prevent Child Abuse Indiana. She was also a volunteer tutor for under-served children.
Marilyn loved her Savior Jesus Christ, above all else and looked forward to joining him in heaven when she was chosen. She was a member of Outlook Christian Church. She was extremely devoted to her husband, Jim, her family and her dog, princess. She spent every moment she could with them. She always let each of her family know how much she loved and cherished them. Her family was so special to her. She was a good listener and always had just the right words to help with a any problem. Marilyn had a giving, open, and loving heart. She was a giving person by volunteering her time at the Hope Center Indy. She tutored under served children and it brought her so much joy and fulfillment. She was an avid reading and studier of the Bible. She enjoyed helping her husband, Jim with their flowers in the garden, baking cookies for the neighborhood kids and being present in life.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Watson; son, Brad Nelson (Jennifer); daughter, Leigh Ann Sproles (Robert); grandchildren, Dustin and Eric Nelson, Ashleigh Harshman (Nathan), Layne and Lexi Sproles; 6 great- grandchildren; sister, Troy Newell; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her dog, Princess. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Brenda Hardy, Geraldine Leonard, and brothers, Bobby, and Elmer black.

Jim, we are so sorry for your loss. Marilyn was a bright light that we got to know and love.
