Maura Lee Slater, 54, passed away at her home in Lawrence Indiana on August 28, 2019. She was born on February 3, 1965 in Anderson Indiana. She is survived by her partner Kat Schwedler, sisters Kathie Stuart, Carol (Jeff) Bell, Patti (Mike) Murphy, and Amber (Butch) Brandt; and brother Richard (Yoli) Slater. She is also survived by stepmom Deb, nieces Angela, Tiffany, Dani and Brooke, nephews Steve and Buddy, 3 great-nieces and 4 great-nephews, and lifelong friends Debra and Jody. She was preceded in death by her father Leroy Slater, mother Anna Spoo Slater, and sister Amy Miller. Maura was an avid animal lover and helped run the animal rescue Friends of Phoenix for many years. She loved to be near water, and Yellow Creek Lake was her happy place all of her life. Maura was always the “wild child”, the MacGyver of the family, and she had a childlike sense of wonder. She loved to discover a good bargain, and found joy in sharing her finds with loved ones. Her light and spirit will be truly missed. May the angels lead you into Paradise and to the Rainbow Bridge, where so many are waiting to greet you.
